BONJOUR CHIEN

Bonjour Chien, d’ici et d’ailleurs will be at Complexe Desjardins until September 10, 2026. Explore the world of Chien, an inquisitive, sensitive and ever-changing character, through a series of art installations on columns throughout Complexe Desjardins’s Grande-Place. Seen through the eyes of Montreal artist Chien Champion, Montreal is a colourful, vibrant, cartoonish place on the border of reality and fantasy.

Starting May 6, see Chien at Complexe Desjardins and discover the themed installation Les retrouvailles (the reunion). Spirits are high as Chien catches up with friends and family to celebrate—a nod to Complexe Desjardins’s 50th anniversary.

A guided walk through the art of Chien Champion

Presented in the Quartier des Spectacles and the downtown core, Bonjour Chien, d’ici et d’ailleurs is a multi-chapter odyssey that unfolds at various locations through sculptures, installations and video projections.

Through the character of Chien, the artist crafts a story inspired by his own journey between Montreal and Chile, where his family is from. Drawing on his love of culture and sports, as well as his fascination with the world around him, he tells the story of Chien and his quest to find a place he can call home. Each work explores a different aspect of city life by bringing collective memory to life and questioning what it takes to feel at home. Along the way Chien observes, plays, learns and makes memories.

About the artist

Chien Champion, whose real name is Felipe Arriagada-Núñez, is a Montreal-based visual artist known for his colourful, narrative-driven universe. Drawing instinctively since he was a child, he’s created a veritable archive of stories inspired by the people he loves, the cities he visits and popular culture. With his signature warm colours and imperfect lines, he focuses on emotions and storytelling over technical perfection.

Bonjour Chien, d’ici et d’ailleurs is an initiative of the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership in collaboration with Complexe Desjardins, Centre Eaton de Montréal, Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth, Place Montréal Trust, Place Ville Marie, Montréal centre-ville and BAnQ. This project is made possible thanks to financial support from the Ville de Montréal and the Government of Quebec.
