Once again this year, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal's Virée classique will be held at Complexe Desjardins, which will be transformed into a real concert hall. The event will take place from August 16 to 18.

The OSM will showcase a rich tapestry of musical cultures with 8 free concerts. Several artists will be dazzling music lovers with their talent at Complexe Desjardins’ Grande-Place.

This summer, music will bring people together like never before, shining the spotlight on many of Montreal's diverse communities. It's the perfect time to take a music break with your friends and family!

DZIRIYA ODYSSEY

  • Friday, August 16, 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.
     

The Mezghena de Montréal orchestra is made up of more than 50 musicians who play different instruments. They'll perform melodies from the Algerian repertoire that have journeyed through time and space, and continue to captivate audiences across borders.

MEDITERRANEAN EXCURSION WITH THE OSJM

  • Friday, August 16, 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, August 17, 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.

Under the direction of Louis Lavigueur, the talented Orchestre symphonique des jeunes de Montréal will present lively Mediterranean pieces that will transport you from Provence to Spain.

MEDITERRANEAN BREEZE

  • Saturday, August 17, 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

This concert is specially created for families. It will introduce the little ones to classical music and delight older audiences with works by Verdi, Chabrier and Mozart.

L'HARMONIE DES JEUNES DE LA VIRÉE

  • Saturday, August 17, 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, August 18, 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

A refreshing breeze will blow through the Virée classique thanks to the young musicians of the Harmonie des jeunes de la Virée. Led by Éric Levasseur, the musicians will transport you from Italy to Spain through the sounds of pasodoble, Aragonese jota, and Italian polka. The concert will be lively and extravagant—don't miss it!

SYMPHONIE DE LA VIRÉE: A MUST-SEE! 

  • Saturday, August 17, 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.

Amateur instrumentalists from across Quebec will come together under the direction of Adam Johnson to form the Symphonie de la Virée. Join them on an exhilarating journey through a program featuring Bizet's Farandole and Granados's expressive Spanish dances. Rafael Payare will join the orchestra to conduct the spectacular "Overture" to Verdi's Nabucco.

ANDRÉ MOISAN ENCOUNTERS AN OVNI

  • Sunday, August 18, 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

An OVNI (French for UFO) will be landing at the Quartier des spectacles! This OVNI, better known as the Orchestre à Vents Non Identifié, will arrive with André Moisan, the OSM's famous bass clarinetist. Come out to hear them perform an eclectic program filled with Mediterranean folk melodies and explosive rhythms!
