For this year’s edition of the Virée classique, the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal will once again take the stage at Complexe Desjardins. For three days, the Grande Place event space will be transformed into a concert hall, hosting nine free concerts inspired by nature.
Come discover a rich tapestry of musical performances, designed to delight music lovers and casual listeners alike. It’s the perfect time to take a musical break with friends and family, in the heart of downtown.

Friday, August 15
- 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.: Griffon Brass Band The dynamic Griffon Brass Band invites you on a vibrant musical journey, from the fjords of Norway to the canals of Venice, with lively detours through the Scottish Highlands and sunny California. Two rare instruments will also be featured to pique your curiosity: the euphonium and the flugelhorn.
- 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.: Nordic Poetry with the MRYO A soulful program full of contrasts, brought to you by the Mount Royal Youth Orchestra (MYRO). This performance combines the Nordic poetry of Peer Gynt, the melodic intensity of Dvořák, and the radiant rhythms of Holst’s The Planets.
Saturday, August 16
- 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.: A Symphonic Flight with the AOJM The Orchestre symphonique des jeunes de la Montérégie will bring you on a musical adventure featuring the melodies and rhythms of Strauss, Puccini, Mascagni and Brahms. The performance will end with an excerpt from Hoslt’s The Planets and the dazzling music of Glinka.
- 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.: Griffon Brass Band
- 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.: La Virée Symphony Amateur instrumentalists from across Quebec will come together under the direction of Adam Johnson and Rafael Payare to form La Virée Symphony From Mendelssohn’s Hebrides to Ichmouratov’s “The Myth of Falcon”, with stops in Quebec and the Appalachians, this concert promises to be a highlight of the Virée classique.
- 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.: Harmonie des jeunes de la Virée A refreshing breeze will sweep through the Virée classique, carried by the voices of the Harmonie des jeunes de la Virée. Their program offers a captivating exploration of nature in all its forms. A vibrant musical experience that showcases the beauty and power of nature.
- 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.: Nature and Passion, from Prague to Verona A concert in which nature, love and passion come to life through music. From Smetana’s Moldau to Tchaikovsky’s interpretation of Romeo and Juliet, interspersed with excerpts from Dvořák, this encounter between the Berliner Sibelius Orchester and the Orchestre Philharmonia Mundi de Montréal is sure to be a moving experience.
Sunday, August 17
- 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.: Tous en chœur! A community sing-along to celebrate the Alliance chorale du Québec’s 50th anniversary. Whether you’re a fan of folk, pop or classical music, come join the choir for this energy-filled event!
- 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.: Harmonie des jeunes de la Virée
